It is made deeper (15mm) to allow for a 12mm plywood floor plus a floor covering allowing the extra depth over a standard step to sit on top of the plywood floor rather than under it like a stock VW item. It is made in the same RAL code as the VW plastic and the step pattern matches the VW one perfectly, It uses all the same factory clip fittings and drops straight into the side door step tray.
